Search on to build new airport in north region

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 3: The Municipal Committee Council of the Jahra Governorate was to discuss during its meeting on Monday, the issue of allocating a site for the construction of a new airport in the northern region, which comes in line with the studies and proposals of the fourth structural plan for the State of Kuwait, reports Al-Qabas daily. The committee headed by the member Eng Hammoud Al-Enezi said the proposal to transform the traffic lights signals into roundabouts was also on the agenda for discussion in addition to discuss the request of the Ministry of Social Affairs to add a storage facility within the site designated for the Red Crescent Society in the Amghara Industrial Area, and the executive body’s response to allocating land south of Qairawan to the Public Authority for Housing Welfare to build private housing.

On the other hand, the Environmental Affairs Committee was also to hold a meeting to discuss the issue of obliging car wash centers to recycle water, allocating places for dead animals, using the underground garbage bins technology in new housing cities, sorting garbage inside and outside commercial complexes, and conducting an electronic questionnaire to measure citizens’ satisfaction about the level of cleanliness in the country.

The committee will discuss a proposal regarding the recycling of gray water in mosques, schools and public buildings, banning the use of water-filled balloons and water pistols during national holidays, and removing neglected and dilapidated boats along the coastal strip, especially in the northern Doha region. Kuwait does its utmost to pursue the best international practices in civil aviation industry, based on its geographical advantages, via open-skies policy only to become a regional aviation hub, said Kuwaiti aviation body’s chief last month. The remark was made by Director- General of Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Yousef Al-Fawzan during a Dec 7, 2021 event thrown by the directorate marking the International Civil Aviation Day. He added that the strategic blueprint for developing Kuwait International Airport is part of the expected air movement growth, noting that Kuwait is interested in overhauling the civil aviation sector as one of the key entities that would contribute to putting Kuwait’s 2030 development vision in place.

The International Civil Aviation Day is mainly meant to help boost public global awareness of the importance of international civil aviation to countries’ social and economic development, he pointed out. Al-Fawzan added that the celebrations of the International Civil Aviation Day come a couple of years following the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, which posed a major challenge to global civil aviation.
