Kuwaiti students flock to Egypt – Medical field demand rises


KUWAIT CITY, Sept 13: Egyptian medical faculties are currently witnessing mass number of Kuwaiti students who are hoping to obtain scholarship and enroll in the the first semester of the new academic year at a time the admission rate decreased to 85 percent, reports Al-Qabas daily. In an exclusive statement to the daily, Fresh Group Leader at the National Union of Kuwaiti Students (NUKS) chapter in Egypt Saud Al-Enezi confirmed the increasing demand among Kuwaiti students to enroll in Egyptian universities. He disclosed that more than 500 new students have applied for admission, and it is expected this will continue until the end of the registration period on Oct 31. He attributed the high demand for admission to medical faculties to the announcement of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) that Kuwait needs medical professionals.

He explained the Egyptian university system has attractive features as follows: total period of study is five years instead of six years, lower admission rate, strength of medical faculties in Egypt as they focus on both the theoretical and practical aspects of the course, and they have university hospitals with various specializations that provide an ideal environment for students to practice their profession.
