Mobile units begin booster dose


KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19, (Agencies): After playing a major role in the two-dose vaccination campaign against coronavirus, the mobile vaccination units resumed their operations in various sites for the booster dose of the vaccine, reports Al-Rai daily. A few days ago, the mobile vaccination units started administering the third dose of the vaccine for the workers in mosques and cooperative societies. Head of the field vaccination team at the Ministry of Health Dr Dina Al-Dhubaib said: “We are currently focusing on the mosques in different parts of the country. We started in Jahra Governorate, followed by Farwaniya and Ahmadi.

The mobile vaccination campaign is ongoing throughout the country for the booster dose of around 6,000 employees in mosques.” She pointed out that “workers in cooperative societies are vaccinated during the evening period, and their vaccination will be completed over a period of two weeks, according to the plan drawn up for vaccination,” noting that after that, they will move to malls and parallel markets.

Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti ministerial committee on response to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) met at Bayan Palace on Sunday to look into the latest local, regional and international epidemiological developments of the fresh virus variant of omicron.

The meeting was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah, who doubles as head of the anti-Covid-19 panel. The committee weighed the latest reports from state bodies concerned with the health situation in the country, and listened to a briefing from Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah on the epidemiological situation in the country. And, Kuwait Embassy in The Netherlands called on its nationals to abide by the new health precautions announced by the Dutch authorities earlier Saturday to stem the surge of coronavirus cases. The Kuwaiti citizens living in the Kingdom of The Netherlands and those willing to visit the Kingdom are advisedly urged to take seriously the new measures for their safety.
