KUWAIT, Oct 6 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Health is to host the fourth joint meeting of the specialized work team of Gulf health ministries on Sunday.
The event will be held under the auspices of Health Minister Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah with participation of GCC Secretariat-General's delegation, leaderships and officials from Gulf health ministries, Assistant Undersecretary for Drugs and Food Control Dr. Abdullah Al-Bader stated to KUNA Saturday.
The meeting will mainly follow a number of important recommendations related to implementing procedures of the 2005 international health regulations aimed to boost world health security, Al-Bader said.
The participants would also study the early warning system and the status of the general framework for the fast response scheme designed for the general health emergency, he added.
The early alarm system is quite similar to World Health Organization's surveillance system, which informs health bodies about any incoming danger threatening general health, Al-Bader noted, adding an immediate investigation would be filed to check on the severity level of the situation, and is to be followed by a fast response action.
Furthermore, Saudi Arabia's health ministry has established a Gulf center specialized in managing emergency cases and early warning system, he noted, adding a representative from the Saudi ministry will be present at the meeting to highlight latest updates on the center.
Meanwhile, Al-Bader mentioned that WHO has setup the general framework for the fast response scheme designed for general health emergency, adding that Kuwait and several other countries began to adopt WHO's framework.
